Backflow Prevention Certification Courses Passed!

Both Jeff Todd and Laurie Wilson have passed the Backflow Prevention Certification Course. This particular course allows them to test back flow devices that are in every fire sprinkler system and are located on the incoming potable water supply.

These guys have put in a lot of their own time on Saturdays to have achieved this certification. Bison Fire Protection truly appreciates their dedication to their chosen trade, the customers they protect on a daily basis, and our company.

We received the email below earlier today informing us of the achievement.

Hello Alain

This is to inform you that both Jeff Todd and Laurie Wilson passed the Cross Connection Control Certification course.  I will be forwarding the details to the City of Winnipeg by the end of the week.

Have a great day!

Small Boat Fire Systems

Download Attachment...

Boating and the prairies are two things that most people just don’t put together. However when you look at our prairie provinces we are covered with lakes from Lakes Winnipeg, and Manitoba to Lake of the Woods in Ontario there are many paces to enjoy small boats. What I mean by small boats here are the 24 foot and larger variety that have galleys, bunks, bathrooms, and every other creature comfort we can jam into them.

These “Small Boats” usually have a couple V8 engines that power them around along with fairly involved charging systems to support all of the electronics on board. Just these 2 hazards alone can cripple or sink a boat if they have a fire. There are several companies out there that manufacture and distribute suppression systems to protect the engine areas in these boats.

Kidde Fire Systems has announced they have discontinued the SBS (Small Boat Systems), and parts will be available in a limited supply. Should you have one of their systems you should contact your fire service provider to ensure your system will operate when needed, and to discuss what your needs may be in the future. Working with a qualified fire protection company will help you budget for a replacement system if that is what required.

As I stated earlier the last place you want to find out your fire system isn’t working is 5 or more kilometers from shore.
